Hi everyone! It's been a while. Sorry! School has been overloading us with work so I haven't gotten the chance to work on any reviews.

Anyway, I'm sure most of you have heard about this, but Gigi Lai (黎姿) has announced that she plans on departing from TVB and that The Gem of Life <珠光寶氣> will be her last TVB series. If you haven't seen the story yet, it's here. So read it if you're interested.

I just thought I'd make a quick post regarding what I think about Gigi's decision. Personally, I'm not a big fan of Gigi, so I don't feel as bad as some of her fans. However, I do think that it is a loss, since Gigi is a decent actress. It's surprising that she's been in the entertainment industry for over 20 years, and still looks so young. I only found out recently that she's older than Ada Choi, who generally plays more mature roles and has a more mature air about her. Anyway, it makes sense that she would want to take a break, since she's accomplished so much in the entertainment industry. It's also not surprising because of her brother's accident which happened a while back. In an interview, Gigi said that she's had this idea for about two years now, since she first began filming The Gem of Life. Either way, it seems like her brother's accident has really affected her, and I respect her decision because it's based on the fact that she wants to spend more time with her family and take care of her brother's business. In my opinion, this is really admirable, as she won the best actress award not too long ago for War and Beauty <金枝慾孽> and she has plenty of opportunities ahead of her. I'm sure she we'll be seeing her again, though not in the near future. It may be a while, but I won't be surprised to see her back in how many ever years it will be.
